Accommodating Resistance and the OAHSPU (one arm handstand pushup)

I've written up some notes and observations about training for the one arm handstand pushup in my training section. There's a lot of graphs and technical talk, but I find the concept of accommodating resistance interesting in its application to bodyweight exercises. Dive in!

I'll also be unavailable for the next week as I head to the Sunshine State for a much-needed vacation!

INTERVIEWS AND UPDATES

Over the past couple months I've been approached by a couple people to sit down and answer some questions.

Here is the first and foremost interview, conducted by Yael Grauer of Dirttime.org. She has a variety of interviews and articles on various subjects. You can register for free at her site for updates of upcoming articles.

Hopefully the interview gives everyone some insight into my training history, as well as my current philosophy and regimen.

The next interview was a series of fitness related questions asked to me through email. I felt there were some helpful points touched upon so I've posted the questions and answers here.

And what is this???

It's an update to the handstand tutorial!

I added a couple quick notes in the tutorial about the actual technique for kicking up into a handstand, as well as discussion of where you want your weight centered during the skill. These were two tips for the skill that I had glossed over the first time, but should be clarified this time around.

NEW TUTORIAL

I had planned on writing this tutorial for ages, but time got away from me. Now there's finally an exercise for your lower body on this site! The one legged squat.

Happy Thanksgiving to all those who celebrate. I've been working on this page way too long today. Time to stuff my face and watch some football!

The one arm handstand has been going well lately, so I wrote up some notes on it in the training section. Think of it as an informal tutorial.

I never thought about writing a tutorial for this skill. I haven't even been training this skill, but when someone mentioned it on a forum recently I thought "hey! I use to do that!". Getting pictures and writing up the tutorial was relatively simple and hopefully appeases your appetite for new material until I get my other larger, more complex tutorial finished.

So without further ado... the clapping handstand pushup.
